How to Complete a Bicycle Transfer Certificate in Japan

When transferring ownership of a bicycle to someone else, you must draw up a certificate of transfer of ownership.

The transferor (the original owner) must complete the fields marked with a red border.

Please write your name, address and telephone number.

The transferor must affix personal seal. If you do not have a personal seal, please sign instead.

【Details regarding the bicycle in question】

Please write in detail about bicycles.

As the manufacturer, model name, colour and size are often stated on the warranty certificate or receipt, please check these details and fill them in.

‘Size’ refers to tyre size and frame size. For standard bicycles and electric bicycles, enter the tyre size in inches. For sports bicycles (including electric sports bicycles), enter both the tyre size and the frame size.

The chassis number and crime prevention registration number are stated on the warranty certificate and the customer copy of the crime prevention registration.
